Johnny Depp Reportedly Being Dropped From The Pirates Of The Caribbean Reboot

It looks like the rumored Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, if it happens, will be moving forward without the franchise’s biggest star. One of the biggest questions about the potential reboot was whether or not it would include Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. Now, one source is claiming that Depp is done with the films. Stuart Beattie, who was one of the writers of the original Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, has seemingly confirmed Depp’s exit, saying…

I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now. And kids all over the world love him as that character so I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.

Stuart Beattie made the comments to DailyMailTV and reportedly nodded when asked about the possibility of Depp’s departure, followed by the comments above.

It’s unclear just how “in the know” Stuart Beattie is at the moment. While he’s been credited on every subsequent Pirates of the Caribbean movie as having helped to create the characters, he was only directly involved in writing the first movie. It’s possible that he is aware that any potential reboot won’t be using any characters he created, which would include Captain Jack Sparrow. He could also simply be making an assumption that the word “reboot” means that Jack Sparrow is done. At this point, the word reboot means so many things in Hollywood that this is far from certain.

Of course, that would also mean that the potential reboot, which Disney has reportedly met with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about writing, would be a complete start from scratch, with no existing characters making the leap to the new movies. It didn’t sound like there was much chance of getting Keira Knightley back again anyway.

The news of a potential reboot was somewhat surprising. While the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have been consistent money makers for Disney, regardless of whether or not they were critically received, the current rumor was that Disney was considering another sequel.

The implication, whether accurate or not, is that Disney may be looking to make a Depp-less Pirates movie because the actor has been something of a lightning rod for controversy in recent months. The actor has been involved in multiple personal lawsuits over his finances and his relationship with Amber Heard has been tabloid fodder that has included accusations of abuse. Warner Bros. was criticized for bringing Johnny Depp on board the Fantastic Beasts franchise and there’s a good chance that if the family-friendly Disney brought him back for yet another film, they would get a similar backlash.

Stuart Beattie takes a positive view of the franchise moving on without the characters he helped build.

There’s that saying, don’t frown because it’s over, smile because it happened. And the fact that they’re rebooting something that you did, means that you did something that is worth rebooting. So I tend to look at it as the glass half full and it’s an honor to be rebooted.

It’s no shock Disney thinks the franchise is worth rebooting, it’s made them $4.5 billion at the box office.

Of course, if the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is in line for a complete reboot, one then has to wonder what direction it could take. The film could still be set in the existing film universe, a Caribbean where Jack Sparrow exists, just simply will not appear. We could also see a prequel that takes place before the events of the existing franchise. There has been lore and backstory set up that could be used, allowing the new films to connect to the existing ones without having to use any of the characters. However, it could just as easily start with something entirely fresh.

The original film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl found a story in the original theme park ride, which has an opening sequence full of skeletons, including one that is still standing at the wheel of a ship and another that appears to be drinking. These images inspired the skeleton pirates which Jack Sparrow faced off against. Other elements of the ride were inserted as easter eggs, such as the famous dog holding the key to a prison cell..

I would certainly hope that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese would go back to the ride to look for inspiration for their new film. Of course, thanks to the popularity of the film franchise, much of the ride has been taken over by Captain Jack Sparrow and the iconic Hans Zimmer theme music, so that might be more difficult.

Still, as I have previously written, there is one place in the ride with a lot of potential, an element of the attraction that’s fairly new, and thus has never been part of the previous films.

One of the most well-known vignettes of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is the auction sequence, where one pirate is auctioning off the women of a recently plundered town to other pirates. Recently, the decision was made to update that moment, and the shapely redhead animatronic that was getting cat calls from the pirates before is now a pirate herself, aptly named Redd.

This seems like the perfect character to set a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie around. It doesn’t require recycling already used ride material for the film and is a character as far away from Captain Jack Sparrow as you can get. Disney has also invested a lot in Redd. In addition to being in the ride itself, she’s also a walk around character you can get a photo with at Disneyland.

Of course, all of this may be premature as it’s not confirmed that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have agreed to write a Pirates of the Caribbean movie at all. Disney may certainly go looking for other writers if they turn it down, but regardless, we’re still waiting on confirmation that this reboot is actually going to happen.

Today Show Addressed Talks Of Megyn Kelly Leaving NBC After Blackface Comments

Megyn Kelly’s NBC career was making headlines even before her big move was officially announced. Less than two years later, Kelly may be finished at the network after making controversial comments earlier this week concerning the use of blackface in Halloween costumes. While NBC News has yet to officially comment on the matter, the widespread rumors of her impending exit were addressed on Kelly’s tentative current home, The Today Show. Here’s was Morgan Radford’s plain summation during the segment:

Sources familiar with the situation tell NBC News that conversations have already started about Megyn’s exit, the exact details of which remain unclear at this moment.

Conversations obviously aren’t indicative of anything permanent being decided, but the signs are almost universally pointing to Megyn Kelly’s departure being as imminent as ever. Her inflammatory comments were universally rebuked, and one would be hard-pressed to find anyone at NBC or NBC News arguing publicly for Kelly to remain in her higher-up position.

Considering Megyn Kelly is a little over a year into her three-year contract with NBC News (valued at $69 million), the anchor’s alleged exit would likely result in a pretty major payday. Had she been fired for criminal charges, that’d be one thing, but hand-tying situations like this don’t often leave much room for networks to avoid paying out a hefty severance package.

Financial details of that kind have yet to be confirmed. CBS Detroit did report that Megyn Kelly had parted ways with talent agency CAA, and that she has brought attorney Bryan Freedman in to handle the proceedings. So that will possibly play a role in the deal being made, and may speak to how long those conversations could last.

You can watch the Today segment below.

On Thursday morning, NBC News announced that Megyn Kelly Today tapings wouldn’t be happening for the rest of the week, which already wasn’t a positive sign for her return. Repeats aired during the telecast’s time slot on Thursday and Friday.

If Megyn Kelly does go through with NBC meetings execs on Friday to discuss her future, then audiences can probably expect for next week’s Today episodes to follow suit with repeats. Alternately, Today Show producers may spend the weekend seeking out potential guest replacements to take over the time slot until a more permanent solution arrives. There is no shortage of talent across all of Today‘s hours, so perhaps Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford’s fourth-hour slot will expand to two hours while things are resolved behind the scenes.

Once it seemingly became clear that Megyn Kelly’s days at NBC were numbered, some speculated that she would return to her former home Fox News, despite the somewhat non-amicable way she departed. Some from Fox News even offered supportive comments in recent days, fueling that speculation. However, the network released a statement that doesn’t make Kelly’s return appear all that likely.

We are extremely happy with our entire lineup.

On Wednesday, Megyn Kelly took time on Today to fully address the backlash that had formed against her, and she tearfully apologized for her previous comments. While her “sorry” statement was largely deemed to be a genuine one, however, it wasn’t enough to sway those calling for NBC to fire her.

During Megyn Kelly Today‘s Tuesday telecast, the host claimed to not grasp why blackface was so offensive, since it was “okay” when she was a kid if “you were dressing up like a character.” She went on to defend Real Housewives star Luann De Lesseps, who’d come under fire earlier this year when a Halloween episode appeared to depict her wearing blackface makeup for a Diana Ross costume.

Following the airing, Megyn Kelly sent an internal memo to her Today coworkers and staff, apologizing and admitting that her views were not sensitive to the issue. Saying she’s “never been a ‘pc’ kind of person,” Kelly called the history of blackface is abhorrent, and said its wounds are “too deep.”

Neither her internal apology, nor her public one, stopped anyone at NBC or Today from calling Megyn Kelly out for those comments. Colleague Craig Melvin called her words “ignorant and racist,” while Al Roker went on air saying that she needed to make a bigger apology to people of color everywhere in the U.S.

Perhaps most damning, though, were NBC News chief Andy Lack’s comments during a town hall meeting on Wednesday.

There is no other way to put this: I condemn those remarks; there is no place on our air or in this workplace for them.

Megyn Kelly’s blackface comments were not the first time the Today host has incited controversy during her time at NBC. From her softballed interviews with Vladamir Putin and Infowars’ Alex Jones to other racially charged comments about Santa Claus, Kelly has found herself in the crosshairs time and again. This time, though, she may not find her way back.

This might have been a completely different discussion if Megyn Kelly Today was bringing in massive numbers for NBC, since TV execs have sometimes turned blind eyes to scandals when they resulted in bigger audiences. However, Kelly has not been the viewer magnet that execs were hoping for, and didn’t attract the entirety of the large, conservative-leaning crowd that followed her at Fox News. Her time slot is averaging far fewer viewers than the hour had previously brought in.

Speaking of days gone by, some think it’s possible that Today will bring former anchor Tamron Hall back to potentially take over the third hour again. Hall had turned many heads back in 2017 when she (seemingly voluntarily) vacated her Today gig following the news of Megyn Kelly’s addition to the NBC News team.

Speculation on that front was further fueled by Tamron Hall’s social media post about Al Roker’s current work in the Waitress musical currently on Broadway. Two former coworkers hanging out together isn’t a sure sign of Hall making career choices, but they sure do look happy together again, don’t they?

Stay tuned for more updates from this ongoing situation, as Megyn Kelly’s NBC future will surely be figured out sooner rather than later. While waiting to see what happens, our fall TV premiere schedule will shine a light on primetime’s biggest debuts and returns.

Hulk Got His Own Constellation, And Mark Ruffalo’s Response Was Perfect

It’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a massively popular film franchise that is currently dominating the box office. The influence of The Avengers can be seen all over pop culture, and now it looks like that’ll actually expand to the stars themselves. Not movie stars like Chris Evan, but the literal ones above us.

NASA recently discovered new constellations, and was tasked with naming these new astronomical discoveries. One of constellations was actually named after popular Marvel character The Incredible Hulk, who has been adapted for TV and film a handful of times. Mark Ruffalo plays the MCU’s version of Bruce Banner, and hilariously responded to this news, saying:

Mark Ruffalo might be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s worst stars when it comes to spoilers, but the 50 year old actor does have a good sense of humor. Besides, a constellation name is another way to make sure that the big Green Guy remains one of the top Avengers of all time.

Mark Ruffalo’s hilarious tweet comes after CNET revealed a slew of new NASA names, many of which comes from Marvel or other forms of nerd culture. This new constellation was simply named “Hulk”, as the stars can be connected to make out the form of the behemoth character. There were also new discoveries named after Godzilla, Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, and even Doctor Who‘s TARDIS.

Of course, the timing of Ruffalo’s joke couldn’t be better, considering what films are currently showing. Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut A Star Is Born is currently in theaters, with pop star Lady Gaga in the titular role. The movie has Oscar buzz, and has also gone viral with countless memes. Mark Ruffalo’s social media game is usually hot fire, and this tweet is no exception.

As far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes, it’s currently unclear how both Bruce Banner and Hulk will function in terms of the current apocalyptic narrative. Bruce Banner was one of the lucky heroes to survive Thanos’ finger snap of death, alongside the rest of the OG Avengers. So Mark Ruffalo will get another movie to show his stuff, as will Banner.

Hulk only briefly appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, after getting a beat down from Thanos in the film’s opening sequence. He refused to come out for the Battle in Wakanda, forcing Bruce Banner to take on the Hulkbuster armor and get into the fray himself. Fans are eager to see him face off against the Mad Titan again, hopefully with a better outcome.

We’ll get to see Hulk and Banner when Avengers 4 arrives in theaters on May 3rd, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.

Best Pink Corduroy Jackets: All Under $150

Corduroy isn’t exactly known for its sex appeal. The fabric is stiff, thick, and relatively unforgiving. It’s what your parents dressed you in as a kid. It’s the name of the bear from the classic children’s book in which he wears a notoriously unsexy pair of baggy green overalls. Corduroy isn’t denim and it isn’t leather, it doesn’t have a reputation for being worn by rock stars or models. Although, I will say, Bradley Cooper did look good wearing it in American Hustle. But this isn’t about him.

What I’m trying to get at is that corduroy is an unexpected candidate for most popular fabric of 2018, but it just might be. Marc Jacobs—who has a knack for taking things that seem otherwise unwearable and making them beautiful—prominently used cord in the designs for his Fall 2017 collection. That same fashion week, Miuccia Prada showed corduroy too. Jacobs models looked like they had just stepped out of the screen from a film called Hip-Hop Evolution (his inspiration) whereas Prada’s appeared to be walking off the streets of Italy in the 60s. Regardless, everyone actually looked good in corduroy (and not like a teddy bear) and other brands like MSGM, Gucci, Helmut Lang and Tom Ford took note.

Buy It: MSGM Corduroy blazer, $805, Mytheresa

In the past couple of weeks, more attainable brands like Mango, Rag & Bone, Topshop and H&M have started stocking anything and everything in corduroy. Case in point: there’s even a corduroy puffer. But the most popular piece I can’t stop thinking about is a pink corduroy jacket. If there is a single piece every brand has made without fail, it’s that.

First I fell in love with the one worn by Alexa Chung for her namesake brand but it’s $655 (it’s also made from a fancy velvety cotton blend from Portugal, so if you can buy it, please do).

Buy It: ALEXACHUNG Corduroy blazer, $655, Mytheresa.com

Then I saw cool Instagram brands like STAUD and Paloma Wool had their own iterations of the corduroy pink jacket of my dreams. Both different. Both perfect.

And although they won’t necessarily break the bank (Staud’s is $225 and Paloma Wool’s is $179), it wasn’t until I saw this photo of Lisa Aiken, Net-A-Porter’s fashion director, that I was convinced I didn’t have to shell out a couple hundred for this look.

Aiken’s set is from Mango and costs just under $150 which is just the right amount I’d want to spend on a pink corduroy jacket. The piece is a must for fall for lots of reasons: it’s easy to wear by itself or with a jacket on top.

A corduroy blazer jacket is also empowering in it’s refusal to be conventionally sexy. The millennial pink shade reimagines the almost overdone color in a new fabric. Basically, it’s something you never thought you’d want but you’re going to want one (or all) of these eleven. Shop the affordable Mango alternative and 10 other affordable options below.

Buy It: Corduroy Structured Blazer, $149.99, Mango

Recently Mango has done an incredible job at making everything trendy that everybody wants (see this striped sweater and these snakeskin boots). Evidently they didn’t disappoint with this perfect pink corduroy. It would also look great with the matching set of pink corduroy straight trousers.

Buy It: & Other Stories Double Breasted Corduroy Blazer, $149, & Other Stories

If you didn’t already empty out your wallet while shopping & Other Stories’s recent sale, then now is definitely the time to get one of their amazing fall pieces. And you can never have enough jackets (or blazers) right?

Buy It: BDG Corduroy Trucker Jacket, $89 $49.99, Urban Outfitters

If you want pink corduroy but aren’t into the idea of a blazer, Urban Outfitters has an option that is basically a more fuzzy denim jacket. Also it’s on sale so you really can’t lose.

Buy It: Embroidered Corduroy Jacket$59.99, H&M

H&M’s take on the pink corduroy jacket craze is more playful than professional with embroidered flowers throughout.

Buy It: Monki Shearling Collar Cord Pink Jacket, $95, Asos

Worried about still being cold? A shearling collar will fix that.

Buy It: Miss Selfridge Open-Front Corduroy Blazer, $95 $57 , Lord + Taylor

If you’re not into the idea of a boyfriend oversized blazer, then this cropped Miss Selfridge fits more tight to the body.

Buy It: Heritage Cord Jacket in Pink Apricot, $148, Free People

This retro cord jacket has everything you could want with a slouchier silhouette than the OG pink corduroy blazer.

Buy It: 1901 Corduroy Blazer in Regular & Petite, $129, Nordstrom

This blazer comes in both regular and petite but in a more vibrant reddish pink and with less buttons.

Buy It: DEZZAL Women’s Vintage Faux-Shearling Sherpa Button Down Corduroy Jacket, $43.99, Amazon

This sherpa button down isn’t even $50 and would look so good with jeans, over a dress or with a pair of thigh high boots.

Buy It: Borg Lined Corduroy Jacket, $125, Topshop

Topshop’s borg jackets have a quintessential seventies feel and the matching pink shearling lining is a nice touch. Would definitely recommend getting this and the matching Corduroy skirt with zip for a really good outfit that requires no effort and would look just as great as separates.

Buy It: AE Corduroy Jacket, $79.95, American Eagle

This AE corduroy trucker jacket isn’t your standard trucker jacket because the sleeves are actually billowy which makes it perfectly on trend with the statement sleeve movement.

The Best Deals From Sephora’s Beauty Insider Holiday Sale 2018

It comes out of nowhere. No warning, no preparation, no savings plan can handle Sephora’s annual Beauty Insider Holiday Sale, which slashes prices across skin care, makeup, hair products, fragrance, and more. Today marks the first day of Sephora’s yearly winter VIB sale, and this time, the opportunity to nab steep discounts is more than ever.

This year, the beauty behemoth is kicking off the deals with two exclusive shopping weekends for VIB Rouge members (shoppers who spend more than $1,000 in a year). Running from October 26 through October 29, and November 9 through November 12, Sephora’s biggest spenders will get 20 percent off all purchases in stores and online with the code ROUGEBONUS. VIBs (people who spend at least $350 per year), meanwhile, will get their time to shop from November 9 through November 12, using the code VIBBONUS to also score 20 percent off. Beauty Insiders (anyone who signs up for Sephora’s free program) get the last leg of the deals from November 16 through November 19. The code BIBONUS landing them 15 percent off, according to TrendMood.

What makes the holiday sale even greater this time around is that Sephora’s beauty rewards program is the best it’s ever been. For every dollar a VIB spends, they get 1.25 points; for every dollar a VIB Rouge member drops, they get 1.5 points. What’s that sound? Why, it’s the rustle of credit cards across the land. There is certainly a lot to choose from, so to help narrow down the options, we asked Glamour editors to share the one thing on their Sephora wish list this year. Scroll on for our top picks.

5 Seconds Of Summer Do Their Best Freddie Mercury On ‘Killer Queen’ Cover

Earlier this year, 5 Seconds of Summer reappeared on the music scene with expensive haircuts, even more expensive leather jackets, and a sleeker sound that pivoted sharply away from their pop-punk roots. The guitars were still there, but instead of heaping on the power chords, they’d amble into vibey new-wave territory or support fragile heartbreak worries.

Their Youngblood album dropped over the summer, and now, just a few months later, 5SOS have taken their decided more polished sound into the hallowed halls of operatic classic rock, covering the theatrical “Killer Queen” for the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s the second cover we’ve heard from the film after Shawn Mendes and teddy<3’s acoustic take on “Under Pressure.”

Here, Luke, Michael, Calum, and Ashton wrap their voices around each other (as they often do) to recreate the lightheaded heights Mercury achieves on the Queen classic’s chorus. It’s so faithful — both in the vocal tightness and the guitar tone — that you might briefly pretend it’s the real thing. But once the verses begin, the lonely instrumentation feels very much like Youngblood.

This particular song choice could’ve put 5SOS in a tricky spot, given its dynamic complexities. But the production here sounds very expensive, too, (and good), and it should! It’s a Queen song. As a result, it’s an excuse to throw in everything but the proverbial sink to aim for the theater rafters.

“We chose to cover, ‘Killer Queen’ because we kept hearing it while writing our third album, Youngblood, and were so enamored by the production and their early realization of the minimalist approach to the track,” the band said in an accompanying statement. “For us, the exploration of individual vocalists in a band is incredibly important and Queen helped us to see the future of how we want to sing, in addition to how we play our instruments. As a pioneer of individuality, Freddie taught us what it means to embrace the idea of truly being yourself and that’s a part of Queen that lives on in their music now, more than ever.”

Like with “Under Pressure,” proceeds from the sale of the song benefit the Mercury Phoenix Trust, which some surviving members of Queen set up after Mercury’s death to help fight HIV/AIDS. Stream 5SOS’s faithful “Killer Queen” cover above before Bohemian Rhapsody hits theaters November 2.

Lady Gaga Keeps Giving The Same Answer On The Star Is Born Press Tour

Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born has been in theaters for weeks now, heralding in his directing debut and making pop singer Lady Gaga a bonafide leading lady in the process. The duo of A-listers did a behemoth press tour ahead of the musical drama’s release, helping to build up hype for the Oscar hopeful before it hit theaters. Press tours are long and exhausting, so sometimes actors are wont to repeat the same sound bites.

That exactly what happened when Lady Gaga did countless interviews for her role as Ally in A Star Is Born. She and Bradley Cooper clearly have a great working relationship, but she described it almost word for word to every outlet. Now someone has compiled these clips, and the results are hilarious. Check it out.

I don’t know about you, but I’m never going to be able to look at a crowd of 100 people again. Just in case there’s that one person who might support me.

This cute video, which comes to us from Twitter user Alfie Green, shows a total of 12 or so interview opportunities where Lady Gaga expressed how Bradley Cooper was the one person who believed in her. This likely comes from truth, considering how little experience in the film world the singer/songwriter had. Unfortunately, Gaga is famous enough that her army of fans are going to notice when Mother Monster repeats a story.

Since ascending to fame in the early 2000’s, Lady Gaga has used her platform to communicate directly with the general public, despite her massive celebrity. As such, the public and her fans hang on every word, especially considering how well-spoken the singer turned actress is. This story is no exception, although it perhaps lost some power with every subsequent retelling.

In Lady Gaga’s defense, memorizing sound bites isn’t something unique to the A Star Is Born press tour. Part of actors’ jobs is to promote their projects before they arrive in theaters, including countless 4 minutes interviews with journalists like yours truly. Plenty of stars go through media training in order to do interviews as well as Gaga, which includes repeating certain anecdotes from the set.

Regardless of how often Lady Gaga spoke to Bradley Cooper believing in her, you can’t deny that its a captivating story. While Lady Gaga has star power to spare, she’s only done a handful of acting projects since becoming a star. While she took home a Golden Globe for her lead role in American Horror Story: Hotel, not every director would be willing to give a starring movie role. Except Cooper, of course.

It should be interesting to see if Lady Gaga’s press tour, as well as her acclaimed performance in A Star Is Born, result in the actress getting an Oscar nomination. She and Bradley Cooper likely have their eyes set on some noms, so we’ll have to wait and see how Awards Season plays out.

You can see A Star Is Born in theaters now. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.

Venom Is Passing A Box Office Milestone

Venom wasn’t a hit with critics, but don’t tell the box office that. The movie set a record for October box office opening, but it hasn’t stopped there. The film just crossed the $300 million mark overseas and is now staring down the barrel of a $500 million global take.

And make no mistake, it will hit that $500 million number. In fact, it’s expected to go well past $600 million considering the film has yet to open in China, one of the largest box offices in the world. Venom doesn’t even need to be a massive hit to put up solid numbers in China. Add to that the film hasn’t opened in Japan yet either, and Venom still has a lot of fight left in it.

Venom won the box office each of its first two weekends in North America, and while it dropped to third last weekend, it still put up a solid $18 million.

According to Deadline, the great international numbers so far come thanks to both Korea and Russia, where the film has done just short of $30 million. In the UK and Mexico Venom has broken $20 million and in Brazil, the movie has done over $15 million.

Venom should be remembered the next time somebody worries about how a Rotten Tomatoes score is going to impact the box office. For the record, the film has a 30% positive rating, which is…bad. However, not only has Venom been successful in spite of that, it’s thrived. A strong opening weekend is one thing. The character has a lot of fans who have been waiting for years to see him on the big screen, but the film has continued to make money every weekend. It didn’t collapse after opening like many big tentpoles. The fact that it’s been equally successful overseas is just as impressive.

For what it’s worth, it seems like at least part of Venom‘s success comes from exactly the same thing that critics panned. The movie is somewhat…silly? However, it doesn’t appear that even the movie’s fans are denying that. Instead, they’ve chosen to embrace it.

As popular a character as Venom is among comic book fans, how the film was going to fair was still an open in question leading up to release. Venom has always been a part of the Spider-Man canon and without the ability to use the web-head to introduce the alien it wasn’t a sure thing that people would accept the character. It is now.

While nothing official has been said about a Venom 2, you can bet with numbers like these that conversation is happening. It’s also good news for the rest of the Spider-Man adjacent movies that Sony plans to make, including Morbius with Jared Leto which has been confirmed as the next one out of the gate.

Meghan Markle Reveals How She Chose Her ‘Perfect’ Wedding Tiara

Meghan Markle‘s had more fashion moments than we can count since becoming the Duchess of Sussex, but it’s her royal wedding dress and tiara that are the most memorable yet. Both items are now on display at Windsor Castle with the Queen’s blessing—along with a surprise interview where the duchess explains exactly what made her “Markle sparkle” moment so perfect.

The Duchess and Duke of Sussex recorded a surprise joint interview to accompany the exhibit, titled A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. As visitors gaze at Markle’s stunning 16-and-a-half-foot wedding veil, Givenchy gown, and 100-watt tiara, they can hear directly from Markle how she landed on the beautiful bandeau tiara she wore for her wedding day.

We bring you the trends. You make them your own. Sign up for our daily newsletter to find the best fashion for YOU.

“When it came to the tiara on the day, I was very fortunate to be able to chose this gorgeous art deco style bandeau tiara,” Markle explains on the exhibit’s recording. “Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with her Majesty the Queen to select one of the options that were there which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine.”

So what made Queen Mary’s 1932 diamond bandeau tiara the one for Meghan? “I think it was just perfect because it was so clean and simple—and also to that point, an extension of what Clare and I had been trying to do with the dress which was have something that could be so incredibly timeless but still feel modern,” she says.

The fairytale moment wouldn’t have been complete without Prince Harry by her side. He found the moment just as special as the bride. “Every girl’s dream to be able to try on a tiara, and, funnily enough, the one that suited the best, the one that looked the best on you without question, I shouldn’t have really even been there, but such an incredible loan by my grandmother, it was very sweet,” he says.

The exhibit includes more fascinating details about planning their fairytale wedding, from choosing the ceremony music to picking that famous bouquet of flowers. When it came to Markle’s custom Givenchy wedding dress, she says her connection with designer Clare Waight Keller was instantaneous. “I met her and I just knew it, I walked back to the house and I said to Harry, ‘She’s going to do my dress, I just know it,’ she says.

Could this wedding have been more ‘perfect’? We think not.

A Clueless Remake Is Officially in the Works—and People Have Thoughts

Oh my God, we’re totally buggin’. News broke on Thursday, October 25, that a remake of the seminal ’90s movie Clueless is currently in development.

Now before you start screaming “AS IF!” at the top of your lungs, let’s think about this. Yes, Clueless is pretty much a perfect movie that should be revered and quoted for decades to come. But upon further reflection, it might be pretty cool to see how smart phones, social media, and other modern developments might affect these reimagined teens. Like, would Cher Horowitz (a virgin who can’t drive) even care about getting her license when she could just take an Uber or Lyft? What designer would get a shout-out a la Calvin Klein? My money’s on Alexander Wang. And might we finally have some same-sex couples in the crew?

The project is in its super early stages, though we do know that two powerhouse women writers are working on the script—Girls’ Trip‘s Tracy Oliver and Glow‘s Marquita Robinson. Obviously, they have a lot to live up to given their work will be compared to Amy Heckerling’s screenplay (which was loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma)—but it seems they’re more than up to the job.

Oliver, who is also writing the upcoming The First Wives’ Club remake, tweeted Thursday, “Crazy excited to be producing a new take on one of my favorite movies of all time, #Clueless, with the hilarious and super talented @MarqRobinson writing it!!! As. If.”

And Robinson basically acknowledged that the duo is low-key crazy for touching the cult classic. “Omg can you believe these idiots are remaking Clueless, @TracyYOliver?” she wrote.

Twitter takes immediately started flying around like balls to your nose in gym class. “If there is a film that really doesn’t need remake treatment it is Clueless,” one user wrote. Way harsh, Tai. But others were impressed by the pedigree of the writers.

Many noted that Paul Rudd, a man who doesn’t age, could just reprise his role as Josh.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that this movie is not a total Monet.
