Kate Middleton Rewears Her Favorite 14-Year-Old Boots

Kate Middleton had her first official royal engagement since the birth of Prince Louis today, October 2, visiting the Sayers Croft Trust’s Forest School and Wildlife Garden in Surrey. For the outdoor event, she kept her look casual with slim-fitting pants, a sweater, and a jacket. The Duchess of Cambridge did, however, bring back one familiar (and beloved) item of her wardrobe for the occasion: a pair of boots that have been in her wardrobe for over a decade.

Specifically, this favorite from the Kate Middleton Archive is Penelope Chilvers’ Long Tassel Boots, which Middleton has owned since 2004, according to People. They’re that good.

“It’s great to see the Duchess wearing the first boots we made for her in 2004—10 years on,” Chilvers told People in 2016 after she wore them on her travels that year. “The boots only get better with age. She looks fabulous in them.” Not a bad endorsement.

Bryce Dallas Howard Promises Jurassic World 3 Won’t Focus On Her Footwear

There are few franchises quite as iconic as Jurassic Park, and the property is breaking new ground with its current trilogy of Jurassic World films. Fallen Kingdom turned the franchise on its head, taking the action and the dinosaurs off the island, and bringing complex morality discussions into the narrative. While Jurassic World continues to carve a place for itself in the larger canon, much of the discussion around Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing has been about her footwear. Plenty of moviegoers were confused when Claire kept her heels on throughout the entirety of the first film– even when running away from a T-Rex. After it became a meme, Fallen Kingdom responded by showing an obvious close-up at the character’s functional boots. Now Howard is ready to focus on something else, and hopefully not address her character’s shoes in the threequel. As she tells it,

A girl can dream, can’t she? While Claire has shown a ton of growth through her first two movies, her shoes seem to always come up in conversation. But noy in Jurassic World 3, as Bryce Dallas Howard is hoping there won’t be obligatory shots of her footwear.

Bryce Dallas Howard’s comments to news.com.au show that, while the actress is a good sport about Claire’s shoes, she’s hoping that the final movie in the trilogy will be able to separate itself from that recurring joke. After all, it’s been years. Moviegoers can see how much Claire has grown throughout the course of the movies, and therefore it no longer needs to be shown through her feet. Besides, the filmmakers and characters have bigger fish to fry in Jurassic World 3.

Claire Dearing, along with the rest of the world, are going to want to stay prepared for the third movie. Because now that the dinosaurs have left Isla Nubar and integrated with the mainland, the rules of life have changed. It’s unclear how humanity will grapple with the prehistoric creatures now roaming the world, but it’s hard to imagine any real sense of peace. As such, people might want to stay prepared, and arm themselves with appropriately outerwear, footwear, and maybe even weapons.

Bryce Dallas Howard’s Jurassic World character was initially introduced as a bit insensitive and completely goal-oriented. She showed little interest in her nephews, closed herself off to Owen, and only viewed the dinosaurs as attractions. That all changed by the film’s end, with the sequel revealing her as an advocate for the creatures. That film saw her become a possible outlaw and mother figure, as the ending provided a series of twists no one could have predicted.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is available for home purchase on all platforms now, and the threequel is set to arrive on June 11, 2021. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Emma Stone Hated Playing An Elf In Netflix’s New Show Maniac

Emma Stone and Jonah Hill’s Netflix limited series Maniac, which won’t be returning for Season 2, feels at times like a showcase of each actor’s array of talents. The premise allowed each to step into the kinds of roles they haven’t previously played on the big screen, and act out situations viewers have never seen them in. That wasn’t always a good thing according to director Cary Fukunaga, who said Emma Stone actually hated playing the drunken elf ranger Annia:

Emma Stone may be down for future projects on streaming services, but Amazon’s Lord of The Rings television series doesn’t appear to be on her list of interests. Despite that, Stone soldiered on for the good of Maniac and delivered a elven performance in Episode 7 that gave little indication of her loathing every minute within that character’s headspace. Cary Fukunaga admitted he sort of leaned on Stone’s attitude for the episode, which was focused on her character Annie taking the “confrontation” drug, since going with a role she wasn’t entirely comfortable with helped to sell the performance. Stone was no doubt jealous of co-star Jonah Hill during that episode, since he filmed a much more realistic fantasy sequence where Owen was an informant for the feds on his crime family.

Cary Fukunaga told Insider Emma Stone was against playing an elf because she didn’t want to portray anything that’s not based in reality. Looking across her career in Hollywood, one can see this isn’t a decision she made specifically for Maniac, since her roles in Zombieland and The Amazing Spider-man films also indicate she didn’t want to play fantastical characters there either.

Emma Stone is at a stage in her career where turning down high-profile projects carries some weight, so the fact she gritted and bared her teeth all the way through it to push on for Fukunaga shows how much she trusted his vision and/or the premise of the series as a whole. Which might have led to a completely different outcome had the elf role gone on for more than one episode. Unfortunately, the experience doesn’t seem to have changed her thoughts on fantasy roles all that much, so viewers should embrace her role as Annia for all its worth.

Maniac is up on Netflix and is currently streaming the entire first and only season. Lots of new and returning television is flooding the airwaves at the moment and it can all be a little disorienting, so be sure to visit our fall premiere guide to keep track of all the shows coming up.

Bad Boys 3 Finally Seems To Be On Track

Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah are definitely on board to direct the upcoming project, after people including Joe Carnahan formerly were helming the film. Chris Bremner has already written a draft of the movie that Variety says the studio and the producers are all behind, which means the movie is expected to move into production, and soon. That is, if Martin Lawrence can get on board. Reports say that Will Smith is definitely in for the third installment in the franchise (he has time thanks to Suicide Squad 2 getting pushed back), but Lawrence has yet to work out a deal for Bad Boys for Life. So, if there is going to be another setback for this project, it will likely be in those negotiations.

Jenna Dewan Is Leaving World Of Dance As Host For Season 3

After first hitting the limelight with 2006’s Step Up, Jenna Dewan embraced dancing again in a big way for her gig as host of Jennifer Lopez’s competition series World of Dance. The show has been a huge success for NBC, especially in the time slot following America’s Got Talent, but Dewan won’t be around for all the near-future celebrations, as she announced she’s leaving her World of Dance hosting duties ahead of Season 3. But the silver lining is that she does plan to return to the future, and possibly in a different role. Here’s how she put it:

That will certainly be a blow to fans of World of Dance, which ended Season 3 just a few weeks ago with The Lab coming out on top. Jenna Dewan is a big draw within the celeb foursome at the heart of the show, alongside Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo and Derrick Hough. To be expected, many of those fans expressed their sadness and kindness in the comments of her Instagram post. But she did at least give everyone a promising note for the future.

Assuming NBC won’t be cancelling World of Dance before Season 3 arrives — which almost definitely won’t happen — Jenna Dewan could very well be returning to the show next summer. Just in a mentoring capacity, rather than as the host. It won’t be clear for a while whether that indicates a one-off gig or something more recurring, but one generally hopes for as much Dewan as possible. And that she’ll return to the hosting position when possible.

While Jenna Dewan didn’t specify any reasons for taking a hiatus from World of Dance, it’s very likely scheduling issues that caused concern, as the actress’ career is currently booming. (Jennifer Lopez’s work on World of Dance reportedly played a part in NBC’s crime drama Shades of Blue bowing out.) Most prominently, Dewan is set to star in the upcoming Netflix drama Mixtape, in which romance and music will co-mingle. She’s also got a recurring role in Fox’s The Resident for its second season, she’ll co-star with Sarah Hyland in Robert Luketic’s rom-com The Wedding Year, and she will feature in one segment for the anthologized film Berlin, I Love You.

You can check out Jenna Dewan’s post below.

World of Dance has already been renewed for Season 3, but it won’t be back on NBC until the midpoint of 2019, so stay tuned for more details. For now, our fall TV premiere schedule will clue you in on everything else the small screen has to offer.

New Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Trailer Shows Off All The Villains

Spider-Man is one of the most beloved heroes in comic book history, with a long tenure on both the page and screen. The mythology of Spidey is being told in a few ways; through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony’s still developing Spiderman universe, and the animated feature Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. The latter is helmed by former Solo directors Phil Miller and Chris Lord, and will span a multiverse of wall crawlers, and their respective enemies. Much of the film’s contents have been kept under wraps, but a new trailer outlines the plot, and features more of the Spidey and their rogues. Check it out.

Woah. There’s so much to unpack here, and so much goodness. Let’s break it all down.

Featuring narration from OG Spider-Man Peter Parker, we learn how Into the Spider-Verse will largely be focused on Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore. The teenaged Spidey will investigate a device called The Collider, which essentially breaks down the walls between universes. This introduces Miles to Peter, and the rest of the motley Spider-crew, including Gwen Stacey, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man noir, and Peni Parker. It looks like the upcoming blockbuster is a bonafide team-up movie, essentially creating the first Spider-Team.

There will also be a large cast of villains to battle, including some Marvel royalty. While we’d already seen that Prowler would be a major villain for Miles Morales, plenty of other iconic Spider foes are also briefly shown. Most exciting may be the appearance of Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk. Fisk has become a fan favorite in Netflix’s Daredevil, and he’s looking giant in Into The Spider-Verse. You can also see glimpses of Scorpion, and a beastly version of Green Goblin. Smart money says there are even more tricks up Phil Miller and Chris Lord’s sleeves.

Into the Spider-Verse is the Spider-Man movie to focus on Miles Morales, a lesser known character who takes the mantle of Spider-Man on in the comics. But he did get a major feature in Playstation’s massively successful Spider-Man game, serving as a playable character. In the comics, Miles Morales is a mixed race teenager who is also bitten by a radioactive spider. This one was created by Spider-Man villain Norman Osbourne, in an attempt to duplicate Peter Parker’s abilities. It makes his chemical makeup slightly different than Peter’s, but he possess very similar super powers. But it’s clear that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has other plans for his backstory.

From the first clips, it seems like Miles Morales is the only Spider-Man in his universe. That is, until the mysterious Collider is activated, and sends the young hero on a wild journey through time and villains. The animation looks unlike anything we’ve seen before, and it may serve as a palette cleanser in the wake of Sony’s Venom movie.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will arrive in theaters on December 14, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Bad Boys 3 Finally Seems To Be Moving Forward

The long-gestating Bad Boys 3 project finally seemed to be moving forward in the early part of 2018, when Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah began negotiating to direct the film and we even got a few details about what the potential plot would be about. Then months went by and nothing happened, which brings us to this week, when we learned Bad Boys For Life is finally close to being greenlighted by Sony and even eyed for a 2020 release date. Here’s what we know.

Bad Boys 3 has been in the works for quite some time over at Sony. In fact, we first heard about the project way back in 2015. Of course, it has gone through several iterations in the time since, but this is the closest we’ve come to a greenlight and it looks like the flick will move forward and soon, although Sony is not making an official announcement at this time.

The first two Bad Boys franchise movies were box office successes, with the first flick grossing over $141 million worldwide on a relatively small $19 million production budget. The second flick had a much higher budget of $130 million but made $273 million plus worldwide. So, it all worked out. Both movies are notable because they are early wins for famed director Michael Bay; Bad Boys, in fact, was his first major big screen outing. The success of that first movie led him to make flicks like The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys II.

Sony has a big slate of other movies coming up, including the highly-anticipated Jumanji 3, not to mention a female-fronted spinoff of 21 Jump Street. There’s also a Bad Boys franchise spinoff headed to TV that will star Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. That one is going to be called L.A.’s Finest and will be headed to Canadian broadcast. Presumably that will eventually be available on cable or streaming in the States. In the meantime, you can check out what Sony has coming to theaters with our full schedule.

Prince Harry Reportedly Had an Awkward Encounter With an Ex—and Meghan Markle Was There

Before he met Meghan Markle and became a one-woman man, Prince Harry was something of a prolific dater. So, it only makes sense that he would eventually run into one of his exes with Markle in tow. In fact, one such encounter occurred over the weekend, during Prince Harry and Markle’s whirlwind trip to Amsterdam. Luckily for us, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has a report that details the awkwardness that unfolded.

According to the report, Markle and Prince Harry were attending the opening of the new Amsterdam Soho House, where Harry’s ex, actress Jenna Coleman, also happened to be. One eye witness said that “Harry had to walk straight past Jenna to get to his and Meghan’s table,” and added that other guests were commenting on the “pretty awkward,” situation.

“Jenna looked down while Harry looked straight ahead, while Meghan didn’t seem to notice,” the guest added. “She sat through breakfast with a smile on her face, but Harry looked a bit uncomfortable. He’d been super friendly saying hi to everyone, but he didn’t even acknowledge Jenna.”

Considering the nature of his rumored relationship with Coleman, we’re not exactly sure why Prince Harry seemed so flustered. According to Us Weekly, they only ever dated casually in 2015 because of their busy schedules. At the time, Coleman was also reportedly being wooed by her Victoria costar, actor Tom Hughes, whom she is currently dating. In fact, Coleman attended the Soho House event with Hughes, which is perhaps what got Harry all flustered in the first place. Of course, Markle handled the situation with the same dignity that has come to define her first year as one of the most popular members of the royal family.
