Sweater Blazers Are the Best Fashion Item You’ve Never Heard Of

Traditionally, there’s a clear divide between your work-to-work clothes and your out-of-office clothes: Whereas the former is most likely stiff and structured (think suits and trousers), the later is soft and plush (more like leggings and oversized sweaters.) But the line between “professional” and “everything else” wardrobes are blurring—a distinctly millennial trend—and retail reflects that. This became increasingly apparent to me recently, when a coworker introduced me to the best fashion item I had never heard of, the sweater blazer. It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like: an open-front, long-sleeved sweater with added seams and structure (along the back, around the shoulders, at the collar) to mimic the silhouette of a blazer. It feels more polished than a cardigan, but just as cozy as your favorite pullover. J.Crew, Vince, Theory, and other labels known for their modern approach to workwear have all jumped on this hybrid garment. I went from not knowing what a “sweater blazer” was to feeling a desperate need to buy one in just a matter of days—hey, staying comfortable while still looking professional strikes me as an immediate win-win.

Open your eyes to the simple joy that is the “sweater blazer” by shopping our two-in-one picks, ahead.

Looks Like Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Mysterio Is Getting His Iconic Costume

Spider-Man: Far From Home will see Peter Parker squaring off with a new enemy in Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio. Like Michael Keaton’s menacing Vulture before him, this is Mysterio’s cinematic debut, and given his very comic-booky look, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see this Mysterio bear little resemblance to his counterpart in the comics. However, there is a new clue that could mean Mysterio is indeed getting his iconic costume, fish bowl and all. Take a look.

So basically what this Instagram post from candykingsuk shows is a new limited edition Dr. Pepper flavor that is coming out in 2019 to celebrate the release of Spider-Man 2 (i.e. Spider-Man: Far From Home). Although the packaging isn’t final, you can see on the can a blue Spider-Man logo in the background and in the foreground a silhouette that possesses a distinctly bowl-shaped head.

This isn’t a guarantee, but given the shape of that dome and the fact that the can indicates that the final design will feature a “Major Movie Character” it stands to reason that it will be Mysterio, and his iconic costume from the comics will make the jump to live action for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Jake Gyllenhaal could look really cool in the classic Mysterio costume, and if that winds up being the case, it’s sweet news for comic book fans, almost as sweet as the delicious-sounding and undoubtedly sugar-filled Dark Berry flavor.

Mysterio always seemed like one of those characters who just looked too ridiculous and wouldn’t translate from the page to the screen without needing to undergo a transformation. Yet it appears that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio will look like a proper Mysterio.

As the comic book genre has grown over the years and audiences have become more familiar and comfortable with these characters, movie studios, especially Marvel, have been able to push the envelope further, giving us costumes and characters that are more faithful and look like they leapt off the page. That’s how we went from the militaristic black leather of 2000’s X-Men to the colorful characters in something like Thor: Ragnarok.

That said, it still seemed possible that Spider-Man: Far From Home could go the Baron Zemo route and change the character’s look in a big way. So it’s encouraging that, if Mysterio indeed rocks the fishbowl as this can seems to indicate, that Sony and Marvel are going for it.

While this is not a complete confirmation and doesn’t actually show what Mysterio will look like, it is just another example of the size of these movies betraying their secrets. Despite all the measures taken to ensure secrecy, marketing and tie-in products for blockbusters like toys, merchandise and limited edition soft drinks can often give up the game.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5, 2019. For all the biggest movies you can look forward to next year, check out our 2019 release schedule.

Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek Looks Amazing As KISS’ Gene Simmons For Halloween

Alex Trebek got into the Halloween spirit in a major way! The Jeopardy! host dressed up as KISS’ Gene Simmons, and, in a video promoting the game show’s Halloween episode, Trebek and Simmons can be seen rocking the latter’s KISS costume, hair, and makeup. See how amazing Trebek looks below:

Alex Trebek’s style on Jeopardy! is always a topic of conversation. As one may expect, Trebek is almost unrecognizable dressed up as the rock star. From the hair to the makeup, there is not a detail the makeup artists missed.

You can also tell Alex Trebek got into the character, because he ended the video by sticking out his tongue along with Gene Simmons. That is dedication! Now, if you are like me, you may be wondering about the process that made this Halloween look possible. Well, it was an intense one, as you can see in the behind-the-scenes video below:

In the “making of” video, you can spot Alex Trebek getting his KISS on as he starts sticking his tongue out in the makeup chair. At one point, Gene Simmons presents Trebek with the sky-high boots Simmons dons for performing in KISS. In neither video, though, do we get to see Trebek in them. Perhaps that will be a treat for another day.

Jeopardy! went full-tilt with its KISS-related content. Alex Trebek did not just dress up as Gene Simmons, but the KISS singer himself played a pivotal role in the game show’s Halloween episode. This happened by way of a special category entitled “Halloween with Gene Simmons.” As you’ve probably guessed, Simmons provided all the clues for that category.

While it was cool to see Alex Trebek dressed as Gene Simmons in the special promo video, you have to wonder: how cool would it have been to have Trebek host the entire episode dressed as the KISS star? You thought his choice of rocking a beard, mustache or going clean-shaven got attention. That style move would have been pretty epic, too!

The contestants seemed to do well with the clues, which is not always the case. Maybe this is a sign that Halloween is still very much in vogue. At the end of the category, Alex Trebek discussed KISS’s final tour. That’s right, KISS is leaving their days of rock-n-rolling on the road, behind them. Their tour is cleverly titled One Last Kiss: End of the Road World Tour.

So, KISS is about to say goodbye to their touring days. Could this mean that Gene Simmons can guest host Jeopardy! someday? Or, even keep giving clues? Either works for me.

To find out when Jeopardy! airs in your area, check your local listings. If streaming is more your style, you can watch episodes of the series on Hulu. When you are not watching an episode of the game show, there is a lot of new programming heading to television this fall to keep you busy.

Prince Harry Took This Gorgeous Photo of Meghan Markle During the Royal Tour

Hopefully by now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have thrown on their comfy pants and are eating takeout on the couch while catching up on all the shows they missed during their 16-day royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand. They’ve certainly earned a break—though they are expected to appear with the rest of the royal family on Remembrance Day on November 11.

The tour, of course, was well-documented by media and photojournalists traveling with the newlyweds. But royals aren’t so different from the rest us sometimes—they, too, like to snap their own photos of special moments. Case in point: This morning, November 1, Kensington Palace posted a very sweet photo of Markle standing among the giant Redwoods in Rotorua. And the photo credit? The Duke of Sussex.

“A message from The Duke and Duchess of Sussex: Thank you New Zealand for the most wonderful last week of our tour. It has been a privilege to meet so many friendly Kiwis,” the post’s caption says. “Australia, Fiji, Tonga and NZ – we leave feeling inspired and reminded of how every single one of us can make a difference. ‘The rain that refreshes the parched ground, is made up of single drops’ – Kate Sheppard #commonwealth ???????? ? The Duke of Sussex”

It’s a casual, candid moment that further proves the Sussexes are the most relatable of royals. They commute on the train! They keep each other dry in the rain! They laugh so hard they cry!

This isn’t the first time the royals have shown off their photography skills, though. Earlier in the tour, Meghan Markle posted her own image to the Kensington Palace account:

And Harry and Meghan’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is often cited as the photographer of many of the adorable shots of her children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—including the one below:

We certainly hope the Duke and Duchess plan on framing Prince Harry’s latest work. It’d make a great gift for Baby Sussex someday, no?

I’m pretty sure that my hearing loss is caused by having the same very noisy oscillating razor up next to my ear every day for about 50 years. But a while back, my luggage was temporarily lost and my host loaned me a new rotary shaver that was nice and quiet. Ever since then I’ve been shaving with a Philips Norelco electric razor, most recently a Philips Norelco Shaver 3500.

After my longtime ballpoint pen went out of production, I went on a big search for something new and finally found the Zebra 4-Color Multi Pen and Pencil. Of course, it wasn’t quite what I wanted, so I modify it with gel ink cartridges from a different pen so it flows smoothly.

I play tennis against my business partner using a Prince racket—the same one I’ve been swinging for years. For the most part, I don’t credit or blame equipment for my performance on the court.

In most cases I tend to be a person who keeps things for a long time—I’m always one of the last to embrace something new. It was only in the last few years that I started driving a car with electric windows. For the 23 years prior to that I drove a 1988 Nissan Stanza Wagon that I nicknamed “The Box.” Now I drive a 2013 Toyota Prius. I most appreciate the fact that it can get as much mileage as it does and still offer such power and acceleration. I hope it lasts as long as my Nissan.

When my wife and I travel, I always carry a paring knife in my suitcase because she loves fruit. And the worst thing you can do with a Leatherman knife is to peel fruit because the juice squirts out into the tool and gets between the blades into the hinges. When it dries, it really gums things up and you can’t open and close the blades anymore.

Tom Hanks Could Barely Record Toy Story 4’s Ending, So Bring Your Tissues

If you thought the end of Toy Story 3 left you a sobbing mess, you may want to start preparing yourself for Toy Story 4 right now. Recently, Tom Hanks spoke about the experience of recording the ending of the upcoming Pixar film, and the moment was apparently so emotional for him that he couldn’t even look at the people he was working with. According to Hanks…

The way you record Toy Story, you’re in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you’re facing him so you can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn’t want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn’t see me. When I realized what they were going for, I realized, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history.’

Needless to say, if Tom Hanks, who has done all this before, had trouble recording his lines, the rest of us are doomed. There will nothing but tears in the theater. Tom Hanks apparently wanted to be alone with his character in the final moments, so he did everything he could to make himself feel alone.

It seems, based on Tom Hanks comments on the BBC’s The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, that Pixar is going for something big with the ending of Toy Story 4. Tom Hanks calls the finale of the film “a moment in history” which is no small order. Of course, this will get fans wondering exactly what the new film has in store for us. Is it even possible to up the ante on Toy Story 3?

Many would have called the ending of Toy Story 3 a huge moment in the movies and it’s one that surely left few dry eyes on the first watch. We saw Andy finally give away his toys and move forward with his life as an adult. It’s a bittersweet ending. We know that the toys will live on and be played with and happy, which is wonderful, but a chapter has been closed for them as well as the boy who had spent so many years with them.

Toy Story 3 was such a beautiful ending to the trilogy that many are wondering just why Pixar decided to move forward with a Toy Story 4 at all. What story is really left to tell that hadn’t been part of the first three movies? While we only have partial answers to those questions, it seems that the studio clearly thinks it has something with Toy Story 4 if the ending is going to be as big as Tom Hanks implies.

The initial indications are that the plot of Toy Story 4 will revolve around Woody’s search for Bo Beep. In Toy Story 3 it’s revealed that Beep is gone, though exactly why is unclear. As far as we know that’s still the story that we’re getting, though the film has gone through a lot since then.

Originally the script for Toy Story 4 was being written by Rashida Jones and McCormack, but they left the project following problems with the Pixar culture. Stephany Folsom was then brought in to work on a new script. This caused a significant delay which resulted in Toy Story 4 being pushed back from it’s originally scheduled release date of this past summer, to the summer of 2019.

Annie Potts, who voices Bo Peep, has confirmed that she has done a lot of work on the project, which indicates that while much of the script may have changed, the basic story likely remains intact. She’s set to be a significant part of the film in some way.

One Toy Story character who won’t be in the new movie, at least not as we knew him, is Mr. Potato Head. Don Rickles passed away in 2017 without having recorded any lines for the new film, and especially with the script changing, it just wouldn’t be possible to make him part of the story. The Toy Story franchise did simply replace Jim Varney as Slinky Dog when he died, but it seems unlikely they’ll do the same thing with a voice as recognizable as Rickles. He’s the Paul Newman of this franchise.

I can’t help but wonder if somehow the loss of Potato Head, and potentially other characters as well, might be part of the movie now. Saying goodbye to them would certainly be an emotional moment for the cast.

Tom Hanks isn’t the only one who has made comments about how powerful the end of Toy Story 4 is. Buzz Lightyear himself made similar comments recently saying…

I gotta resist getting emotional because I don’t wanna give it away, but this is an incredibly great story… They’ve got great characters, but a couple of scenes towards the end were really hard to get through.

While the difficulty with the script may be cause for alarm for some fans, it really seems like the actors feel Pixar has nailed it, so perhaps the extra time that was taken to get the story just right was worth it. The story is always something that is perpetually worked on during the production of a Pixar film, it’s never entirely finished until the whole movie is done. Some films, such as The Good Dinosaur have seen entire movies basically canned after it was decided that the existing story just didn’t work.

An entire generation has grown up with the Toy Story movies and even if you weren’t a kid when the first one came out, the story about growing up and leaving your childhood behind is something that’s universal. The fact that the Toy Story movies captured that in three near-perfect films is remarkable. The fact that Toy Story 4 might even be even more memorable is difficult to even imagine. But Tom Hanks says that Toy Story 4 is going to have an “impactful ending” and why in the world would we not believe Woody?

Victoria Secret’s Sent Kim Kardashian Underwear And Wings For Halloween

Everyone needs a costume for Halloween. And Victoria Secret had a very specific one in mind for Kim Kardashian West. As the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star revealed on social media last night, the reality TV star was decked out like a runaway model with customized wings and accessorizing underwear for All Hallows’ Eve. And she wasn’t alone in that regard, as Kim’s famous sisters were also dressed in the same model attire for the holiday festivities. No tricks here; only treats. Take a look at Kim Kardashian West’s revealing angelic costume for the evening, courtesy of social media, below.

When one celebrates All Saints’ Day, this is probably not what the church had in mind. Nevertheless, Kim Kardashian West is rocking Victoria’s Secret signature wings and attire in this Twitter photo, and she is certainly enjoying the moment too. And Kim wasn’t alone, as Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner also joined her in the heavenly fun, as seen in a separate social media post from Kim Kardashian West.

Kendall Jenner also showed a few more pictures from the wing-filled evening, and the model offered her thanks for the opportunity.

While most people tend to dress up for Halloween, it appears Kim Kardashian West and her sisters opted to dress down instead of their costumes of choice. Nevertheless, they all look stunning in their outfits and they all appear to be flaunting it as they are seen walking down their makeshift runway and enjoy their costumes and loaned wings for the evening. That is a perk of being a Kardashian/Jenner: you get to borrow Victoria’ Secrets’ wings.

There’s rarely a day where someone in the Kardashian/Jenner clan is not in the news. Although Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West’s husband, has taken up most of the spotlight in recent months due to his once-political antics, the Kardashians are rarely far behind them. Particularly when someone in the family is either going to the White House, suing their former bodyguard, reliving poor costume decisions on Keeping Up with the Kardashians or what-have-you, there’s never a dull moment in the hectic-as-all-hell lives of the Kardashians and Jenners. That tradition still continues.

It’s apparent from these photos that Kim Kardashian West and her famous sisters had a fabulous Halloween this year, and we’ll be very curious to see how they top it next year. Even though Kim Kardashian has seemingly done everything and anything in her life, she finally got to cross off an item on her bucket list with this year’s Halloween activities. And she looked as happy as can be in the process.

We’ll have to wait to see what’s next for the Kardashians and Jenners, but we’re certain that they’ll be in the news again shortly. Of course, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the latest celebrity developments and updates, related to the Kardashians and Jenners and otherwise, right here at CinemaBlend.

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum Reunited to Take Their Daughter Trick-or-Treating

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum officially filed for divorce last week, but they reunited yesterday (October 31) for a very sweet reason: to take their daughter Everly trick-or-treating.

Both parents captured the day on Instagram Stories. Dewan dressed up as Cleopatra, while Tatum channeled the Genie from Aladdin—complete with a full mask and everything. Most of their uploads are of them hanging out solo or with Everly, but they did manage to snap one photo together. See it for yourself, below:

Dewan was in her costume all day because she helped with an early-morning Halloween party at Everly’s school. It’s unclear when Tatum showed up to the festivities, but he posted trick-or-treating slides that seemed to go into the evening.

People reports that Everly walked hand-in-hand with her parents and also got them to play a game of “1,2,3…swing.” The 5-year-old dressed as Starfire, a Teen Titans superhero.

The fun family night out comes just days after Dewan and Tatum officially filed for divorce. Their split is amicable, though: Dewan is reportedly seeking joint custody of Everly, in addition to spousal and child support.

Dewan and Tatum’s breakup announcement in April came as a shock to fans.” We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” the two wrote in a joint statement on Instagram. “We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”

Tatum is reportedly dating pop singer Jessie J, while Dewan is linked to Broadway actor Steve Kazee.

The Halloween Franchise Was Never Giving Rob Zombie A Third Movie

The horror genre has been on a serious roll in the past few years, with many of the biggest hits coming from acclaimed horror studio Blumhouse. After bringing projects like Get Out and Happy Death Day to theaters, Blumhouse recently pivoted its focus to the classics, with David Gordon Green’s Halloween. The new sequel has been breaking records for the franchise, but it wasn’t long ago that Rob Zombie released his pair of Halloween flicks.

The Rob Zombie Halloween movies were released in 2007 and 2009, and were a major step away from the traditions of the franchise. Ultra violent and cruel, some hardcore fans of the franchise took umbrage with Zombie’s vision. And according to Halloween producer Malek Akkad, they were never going to give him a threequel.

While not making any sort of comments toward Rob Zombie’s vision, Malek Akkad and the powers that be didn’t have an interest in a third movie. So fans were left waiting 9 years in between Halloween II and Blumhouse’s recent sequel.

Malek Akkad’s comments to Bloody Disgusting really highlight how much the Halloween franchise has changed throughout the years. While they all star a murderous Michael Myers, the vision and amount of gore used has been altered with each new sequel. And when Rob Zombie came on, he definitely made his mark on the classic slasher property.

John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween relied on a tense tone, and the slow build of chaos in Haddonfield. The kills are relatively blood free, and Laurie Strode’s final conflict with Michael Myers is tame compared to what horror audiences have grown accustomed to. The OG Scream queen got out with just a small cut on her arm.

But when Rob Zombie brought his sensibilities to Halloween, he stepped up the violence in a major way. Bringing Laurie and her friends to a modern setting, and Michael ripped them apart brutally. Because those sequels were built upon the director’s vision, Malek Akkad didn’t think anyone else could continue with a threequel.

The current Halloween movie went back to basics, with David Gordon Green and Danny McBride taking heavy inspiration from John Carpenter’s original movie. Its a choice that has resonated with audiences, with another sequel seemingly inevitable.

Halloween is in theaters now. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Better Call Saul Actor Chopped Off Own Arm To Fake Military History And Get More Roles

In the entertainment industry, as in other walks of life, the phrase “fake it ’til you make it” can sometimes be just the right piece of advice to further one’s career. Actor Todd Lawson Latourrette took that way too literally in his past, and he’s now confessed to having severed his own arm to promote the falsehood that he was a wounded military veteran. It was all in an effort to land acting roles, such as a Season 4 appearance in Better Call Saul.

His bizarre sense of hyper-dedication aside, Todd Lawson Latourrette doesn’t seem to be very proud of his actions, which he said happened 17 years ago. Latourrette claims to be bipolar, and admitted he wasn’t properly taking his medications whenever he made the drastic decision to cut off his arm. He told Albuquerque’s KOB4 that he used a skill saw to go through with it.

According to Latourrette, his mind was going through “a psychotic episode,” and he obviously wasn’t thinking the most clearly. The actor then had the wherewithal to cauterize it, though, so there was at least some planning and consideration happening, giving Latourrette a chance to later use his new cover story out. Indeed, while he hasn’t been vastly prolific as an actor, his war veteran story has landed him quite a few roles, even if they weren’t star-makers.

It’s unclear exactly what made Todd Lawson Latourrette want to come out and make this grand confession now, but he did state that it has been hard to live with this always-present lie. And for what it’s worth, he says he’s not going public as a way to gain more recognition, since he knows that this rare case of self-sabotage will likely blackball him from the film industry. In his words:

At this point, rather than trying to add more entries to his acting resume, Latourrette says he hopes that his story will reach and help others who may be suffering from mental illness. People sometimes are guided more successfully by cautionary tales than straightforward advice, so this story could very well provide some food for thought for others looking to make drastic decisions.

Latourrette did manage to book several jobs in the years after he first cut his arm off. The first role came in 2002 for the Dennis Hopper-starring thriller Unspeakable, but it wasn’t until 2014 that he broke more into the TV side of things. He took small roles in Longmire, The Messengers, and Manhattan over the next few years.

Earlier this year, he booked what is currently his latest and last role, which came in the Better Call Saul episode “Quite a Ride,” which featured that excellent Breaking Badflash-forward that took place within Saul’s office. During the scene where Saul is hocking burner phones to diner patrons, Latourette’s character is seen buying one, and his semi-bionic arm is on display. Don’t expect that character to be the lynchpin in Gus Fring’s operation, though.

While TV audiences might not be seeing Todd Lawson Latourrette anytime soon, the fall TV schedule is full of new and returning shows that will keep you busy.
