Being famous is a dream for many, but being a celebrity also has its downsides. This is definitely true any time a famous couple breaks up, especially when they go to court. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp know this all too well, as they’ve been making headlines for years as a result of their battle in court. And now Heard’s cast against Depp has involved the LAPD.
The silver lining to this story is that Cary Fukunaga noted that there was no “bad blood” as a result of him exiting IT, as evidenced by him still collaborating with IT producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Nevertheless, the IT journey continued on, with Andy Muschietti being hired to helm what would end up becoming a two-part adaptation, with principal photography on the first movie beginning in June 2016. While Midsommar’s Will Poulter had been selected to play Pennywise in Fukunaga’s version of IT, he later had to bow out due to a scheduling conflict, and Bill Skarsgård took over the role. IT finally came out on September 8, 2017, with IT Chapter Two following on September 6, 2019.
Cruel Intentions, of course, came out before the star couple’s children were born, so they didn’t have to really worry about the film being on their kids’ radars much as they were growing up. In an interview with E!, Ryan Phillippe says he didn’t want his kids watching the film when they were younger, but now that they are older (22 and 17 years old, respectively), he’s not really sure how they would feel about seeing it. If those romance fans of the ‘90s remember, there’s some pretty spicy scenes between Philliipe and Reese Witherspoon. Here is what the Big Sky actor said exactly:
Now with nearly 20 years having passed since Blade: Trinity’s release, David Goyer is looking forward to seeing Mahershala Ali succeed Wesley Snipes as the cinematic Blade, and he’ll gladly buy a ticket for the MCU reboot. Of course, Blade isn’t Goyer’s only foray into comic book movies, with his other credits in that arena including Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Additionally, he developed the short-lived Syfy series Krypton and is one of the executive producers on Netflix’s upcoming The Sandman series.
Alan Menken composed all the music for the original Little Mermaid alongside the late Howard Ashman, who wrote the lyrics of the movie’s songs. The soundtrack went on to win Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“Under the Sea”) at the Academy Awards and become one of the all-time great modern pieces of music. Looking toward the live-action remake, Menken has shared that there will be at least four brand new songs he and Lin-Manuel Miranda cooked up for the upcoming movie. In his words:
The fire didn’t put a stop to Jada Pinkett Smith’s 50th birthday celebration either, as Smith, along with her mother and daughter Willow Smith, still held their talk show Red Table Talk, which is filmed in the home, and dedicated the special episode to the birthday lady. For the birthday celebration, a number of celebrities sent Smith their well wishes via video, and they each asked a thoughtful question to commemorate her hitting a half-century on Earth.
On the other hand, I imagine that Amandla Stenberg would be especially proud to assume the role of an X-Men movies character who is more coveted, more widely beloved, and more undeniably badass, such as Storm. Born Ororo Munroe to an American journalist and a Kenyan princess, she is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Comics Universe for her ability to, literally, control the weather (hence her nickname) and would also become the queen of Wakanda after she married T’Challa – a plot detail we, unfortunately, might not see in a future Black Panther sequel.
However, Storm’s big screen return in the MCU is still much anticipated and, having played a powerful mutant in The Darkest Minds, Stenberg is an ideal choice to succeed the role played by Academy Award winner Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp previously.
The trump card to the operation, quite possibly, could be the romance between Madeleine and James, which may or may not have inspired her to shift loyalties to the side of good. By the time Spectre shows us the couple driving into their future together, the damage has already been done. Whether she’s still serving SPECTRE or not, Blofeld now has an advantage that could send James Bond into the ultimate tale spin. But in this darkest scenario, we’ll assume that Dr. Swann is indeed a baddie.
There wasn’t an industry in the world that wasn’t severely impacted by the global pandemic and the massive, nearly global, shutdown that occurred in early 2020. While the severity of the impact was different from one industry to the next, any place where large crowds of people tended to gather, from concert venues to movies theaters, were certainly hit the hardest. This also includes the theme park industry. Nearly every park in the world was closed for at least some amount of time, and some were closed for most of the year, now we have some hard numbers to show just how badly theme parks had it, and it’s pretty terrible, as the industry saw a 67% drop in attendance compared to 2019.
Freshly announced from the Nintendo Direct event, we now know that Chris Pratt will be voicing Mario in the new Super Mario Bros movie, while Anya-Taylor Joy has been brought aboard as Princess Peach. The rest of the main voice cast includes Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. And for those of you who’ve enjoyed Charles Martinet vocal performance as Mario since the 1990s, not to worry, as he’ll be cameoing in the movie in a yet-to-be-revealed capacity.
