The Kardashian-Jenner family is basically photographed every time they leave their homes. It’s their reality and certainly a part of their brand from the early days of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. This also means that their every move is open to interpretation by the Internet.
The latest mystery involves images of Kendall Jenner stopping by a bodega in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood and purchasing a single can of Coca-Cola. She was dressed in a tight orange mini-dress, matching earrings, high heeled sandals, and appeared to have her hair and makeup done. Given that she’s a model and a Jenner, this isn’t necessarily surprising. But social media users were quick to call out that her look perfectly coordinated with the dash of color on the can of Orange Vanilla Coke she picked up, leading people to wonder if this was actually a subtle ad or spon-con.
Jenner herself posted some images from the day on her Instagram feed.
Instagram feed Diet Prada, which is like a watchdog for the fashion industry, called attention to the image in a post. “Ad? Short-lived Pepsi spokesmodel @kendalljenner made a glamorous bodega run in NYC yesterday to grab a can of Coke,” the caption reads. “It wasn’t just any Coke though… The most recently launched Orange Vanilla flavor she chose happened to be just a couple Pantone shades away from perfectly matching her dress. Surely enough, images of her with the beverage were soon splashed over the web. Was this color harmony a coincidence or have Jenner and Coca-Cola been scheming to skirt around the FTC’s social media advertising guidelines? 🤔”
