Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of talk regarding the upcoming Breaking Bad movie. Who will it follow? When will it be set? Will it air on TV or hit theaters? Due to the timeline, would Walter White be able to make a return?
Bryan Cranston has made it clear previously that he is not involved in the creative process of the Breaking Bad movie. But if you ask him whether or not he would be willing to return should the circumstances be intriguing or workable the answer would be, “yes.” Per Cranston:
Speaking out on NBC’s Today, Bryan Cranston talked a little bit about the recently announced project, noting there has been plenty of hyperbole about the movie. He’s not wrong. The project is getting off the ground in Albuquerque and is rolling with the code name “Green Briar.”
There are also timey whimey ways to bring back dead characters, but those probably wouldn’t work for a show like Breaking Bad. Still, if it’s something the studio wants to make happen, Bryan Cranston seems game to try out the idea. We’ll have to wait and see if it makes sense.
Details are pretty scarce and not even totally official at this point, but the movie is expected to film between November of this year and February of next, after which it will be much harder to keep a secret. The plot is expected to follow a kidnapped individual finding their way to freedom, but other than that, it’s difficult to determine exactly what another Breaking Bad project would look like.
Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston are keeping busy right now. Cranston has the aforementioned Broadway stint in Network. Aaron Paul can currently be seen in Welcome Home and he has a new TV series in the works called Are You Sleeping? Finally, news broke a couple of months ago that the high profile actor had landed a stint in HBO’s Westworld, which is currently revving up for Season 3.
